Land management is a very important thing to Hawaii on how hawaiians used there natural resources to survive. Hawaiians were very thoughtful on how they managed the marine life back then. Overtime in the present things are not the way it used to be. Fish is decreasing in numbers from the water being polluted and human activity. All though we could solve the problem by setting a bill then into a law about overfishing.

Gyotaku experience:

It was fun. I love artsy type of activities so I really enjoyed that. Learned that it was better to paint against the scales of the fish..it made the painting nice and the scales were more defined in painting.

Watching Kumu Nakoa cut into his fish was gnarly but cool!

The marine management proposal we learned about was very interesting. The time and research involved is intense. Looking at the graph that was created from research over the years showed lower numbers in highly populated areas which makes sense as to why they would want to make the 30x30 plan. I dont personally eat much fish or fish but for those who do I think it would be…

today’s class we discussed marine management of our coastal fish species. There is a proposal called 30x30 where they are am trying to change management techniques. In clouding size of fish, what types of fish can be harvested du the year as well as methods that can be used. This is to prevent over harvesting and endangering our reef fish which in turn can cause consequen to our reefs and daily life.
